
Almond Butter Crunch

1 1/2 c. Granulated Sugar
1 c. Butter
3 Tbsp. Water
3 Tbsp. Corn Syrup
1-6 oz. bag Chocolate Chips
1/2 c. Walnuts or Pecans, finely chopped
Grease a 9″ x 13″ pan and set aside.
Toast almonds on a cookie sheet at 350° F until golden.
Combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and water in a large, heavy saucepan. Stirring constantly over medium heat to 300° F on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the toasted almonds. Pour into pan and spread.
Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and spread when melted.
Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Break into small pieces and store in an air tight container.
Optional: For a more professional appearance, in place of sprinkling with the chocolate chips and nuts for the topping you may break the candy into pieces and hand dip each piece in melted candy coating. Decorating with additional candy coating in various colors to coordinate with special events and holidays.
