
Apple Dumplin’s

Dumplin’ Dough:
2 c. Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 c. Shortening
2/3 c. Milk
Cinnamon & Sugar
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender.
Gradually add milk to form dough.
On a floured surface roll out dough.
Cut into 6-6″ to 8″ squares.
Place a pared apple in center of each square.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar to taste.
Pull corners of dough up and around apple and pinch together.
Repeat with other two corners of dough.
Place dumplin’s in a 9″ x 13″ glass baking dish.
Cover with syrup.
Bake 30 minutes at 350°F. until golden brown.
Baste dumplin’s with syrup 2-3 times during baking.
Syrup:
1 1/2 c. Granulated Sugar
3/4 c. Water
1 Tbsp. Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
Mix together sugar, water and butter in saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
Turn down to low and simmer 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
