
Gramma’s Chocolate Cake

2 c. Cake flour
1 1/3 c. Granulated Sugar
1/2 c. Unsweetened Cocoa
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Soda
1 Egg
2/3 c. Oil
1 c. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Strong Brewed coffee, cooled
Sift dry ingredients together into a large mixing bowl.
Beat in egg, oil, buttermilk and vanilla.
Add coffee and mix until blended.
Pour into two greased and floured 9″ layer pans.
Bake 25-30 minutes at 350°F.
Turn out of pans, let cool.
Frost between layers, sides and top of cake with frosting recipe below.
Frosting:
3 Tbsp. Butter
2 oz. Unsweetened Chocolate Squares, melted and cooled
3 c. Powdered Sugar
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
2-3 Tbsp. Milk or Coffee
Cream together butter and cooled chocolate.
Beat in powdered sugar, vanilla and a little milk or coffee.
Add milk or coffee slowly until smooth and creamy.
