
Swiss Scones

1/3 c. Granulated Sugar
1/4 tsp. Soda
1 1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/3 c. Cold Butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 c. Golden Raisins
1 tsp. Orange Zest
1/2 c. Buttermilk
2 Tbsp. Milk or Cream
2 Tbsp. Granulated Sugar mixed with 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
Mix together flour, sugar, soda, baking powder and salt.
Using a pastry blender mix butter into flour until crumbly.
Add raisins and orange zest.
Mix in buttermilk.
Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead gently 10 to 12 times.
Shape into 7″ disc.
Cut disc into 4 or 6 wedges or cut into rounds using a cookie cutter.
Place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Brush tops with 2 Tbsp. milk or cream.
Sprinkle tops with cinnamon sugar mixture.
Bake 18-20 minutes at 400°F.
Serve warm.
