Tea Biscuits

1 1/2 c. Granulated Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1 c. Shortening
1 c. Raisins, plumped
3/4 c. Sour Cream
1 Egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Vanilla
Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and nutmeg.
Pour 1 cup boiling water over raisins, cover and let stand 10 minutes.
Thoroughly drain water off of raisins.
Add shortening and raisins to flour mixture.
Combine sour cream, egg, soda and vanilla.
Add to dry ingredients, mix lightly.
Turn dough onto a floured surface.
Roll out to 1/2″ thickness.
Cut dough using a round biscuit cutter.
Place on parchment lined cookie sheets.
Bake 20 minutes at 350°F.
