
Zesty Orange Pound Cake

1/2 c. Shortening
1 2/3 c. Granulated Sugar
2 Eggs
2 1/4 c. Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Baking Powder
1 c. Milk
2 Tbsp. Grated Orange Zest
1/4 c. Orange Juice
1 Tbsp. Granulated Sugar
In mixing bowl cream together the cream cheese and shortening.
Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and beat well to incorporate.
In separate bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed ingredients alternately with milk.
Stir in orange zest.
Spoon into 2 greased and floured large loaf pans.
Bake 55 to 60 minutes at 375°F until toothpick comes out clean when inserted into center of loaf.
Let cool 5 minutes.
Spoon orange juice over top of hot loaves.
Sprinkle top with sugar.
Remove to wire rack to cool completely before wrapping in foil or plastic wrap for storing.
Deliscious served with a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
